marketplace Rules & Safety Guidelines

Welcome to the Princeton Parenting Collective marketplace!

This space was built to help local families buy, sell, declutter, share resources, and find help in a safe, trustworthy way.

Please review the guidelines below before posting or responding to an ad.

Our shared standards create the kind of community we all want to be part of.

1. Who Can Post

  • Only logged-in members of Princeton Parenting Collective may post or reply to ads.
  • Your display name is the name other members will see. This helps keep interactions neighborly and respectful.
  • Once chosen, display names cannot be changed without admin help (for community continuity).

2. What You May Post about

You may list:

  • Baby & kid gear
  • Toys, books, clothing, and sports equipment
  • Furniture and household items
  • Local activities, tickets, or passes you’re reselling for at or less than the amount you paid
  • Requests for items (“ISO”)
  • Services offered by local parents/caregivers, such as
    • babysitting
    • tutoring
    • pet care
    • cleaning/organizing
    • yard help
    • postpartum support
  • Short-term childcare help (date night, occasional coverage)

3. What You May Not Post about

To keep this community safe and on-mission, please avoid posting re:

  • Strollers, car seats, or safety gear that is damaged or expired
  • Hazardous or recalled items
  • Any adult content
  • Anything unlawful or unsafe
  • marketing pitches
  • Spam, promotions, or automated posts

If in doubt, ask.

4. Posting Expectations

  • Be accurate, honest, and clear in your description.
  • Include images when possible.
  • Price items fairly.
  • For free items, please mark them as such.
  • One item per listing unless selling a set.
  • No duplicate posts.
  • Please update your ad if the item has been claimed or sold.

5. Safety Guidelines

Your safety and comfort are so important. Please keep the following in mind:

  • Meet in public, well-lit places whenever possible.
  • Avoid sharing your home address until you feel comfortable.
  • Never send money or deposits in advance unless you trust the other party.
  • Report any odd or suspicious activity to the PPC admins.

6. Contacting and Responding to sellers

  • Keep communication within the community platform when possible.
  • Do not request or share unnecessary personal information.

7. Expiration, Renewals & Moderation

  • Posts may automatically expire after a set time (typically 30 days).
  • You may renew or edit your listing from your My Ads page.
  • Admins may remove posts that violate rules or don’t fit the PPC community mission.
  • Repeat violations will result in the loss of posting privileges.

8. Disclaimers

Princeton Parenting Collective:

  • does not verify the accuracy of listings,
  • cannot guarantee transactions between members,
  • does not endorse any items or services posted,
  • is not responsible for any loss, damage, or dispute arising from transactions.

By participating in the marketplace, you agree to follow these guidelines and help maintain a supportive, trustworthy environment.
